Workshops and Speaking Engagements:

  • What’s Race Got to Do With It? – The objective of this workshop is to allow participants to have open conversations about race and its impact on their daily lives. Thought provoking exercises and discussions challenge participants to examine their current views on race in a healthy non-confrontational setting and encourage them to begin a dialogue about race with others.

  • SANKOFA:  A Model for Working With Disenfranchised Youth - This model can be presented as a speech or workshop.  It is designed for parents, teachers, and service providers who work with youth.  Strategies are presented that encourage more positive interactions with youth and promote healthier outcomes for the youth.

  • Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things - This speech highlights the lessons to be learned from those who were intimately involved with Brown vs. Board of Education.  Through a historical overview, participants are challenged to stand up for inequalities and to determine how they can make a difference in the lives of others.

  • Understanding and Working with Ethnic Minorities and Impoverished Youth - This workshop is designed to broaden the perspective of those who work with ethnic minority and impoverished youth.  Participants’ stereotypes and belief systems are explored.  They are presented with crucial information that is necessary for working with African American and Latino children.

  • Strategies For Working With Disruptive Children - This workshop highlights some of the factors that contribute to disruptive behaviors.  Strategies are offered on ways to decrease these behaviors and how to get the appropriate help for the child.  Opportunities are provided for participants to practice the strategies.

Faith Based Organizations:

  • Blessed, Anointed, and Delivered - This presentation is generally presented to teenagers within a faith based organization.  It is a message of hope and transformation for teenagers who struggle with the daily pressures of life.  They are encouraged to explore their history and reject negative images that are portrayed about their generation.

  • Don’t Retreat:  A Change Is Going to Come – This inspirational message is designed for those individuals who work and live with teenagers and may feel that they are making little difference in the life of the teen.  Listeners are provided with suggestions of ways to be a change agent and strongly encouraged to “think outside of the box” when working with teenagers.

  • The Process of Spiritual Transformation - This workshop is designed to help participants understand the gradual, circular, and lifelong process of spiritual transformation.  Crucial steps are provided based on Biblical principals to guide participants as they seek to transform their lives.  Thought provoking questions challenge and support participants through this process.

  • Listen….God Is Calling – This workshop highlights ways participants can practice listening to their inner being, the voice of God.  Exercises are presented which allow participants to practice actively listening to one another while simultaneously learning to be mindful of their own inner voice.

  • Discernment and Hearing God’s Call – This workshop delves more deeply into the process of listening for/to God.  Participants are presented with a number of ways to distinguish God’s will from their own or that of others.  A process of discerning God’s plan for the individual is offered.
